INJURY SETTLEMENT FOR FARMING CLIENTS

Langrock attorneys James Swift, Vincent Todd, and William Vasiliou obtained a significant settlement on behalf of their client in an action under the Federal Tort Claims Act, against the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, or NRCS. The client, a lifelong farmer, asserted that he sustained life threatening injuries from a cap that exploded off a manure/waste transfer system defectively designed by NRCS, which struck and badly injured his left leg. The client suffered a compound fracture to his left femur, along with an open wound in a highly contaminated area. After several years of litigation, the parties reached a significant six-figure settlement, for the injuries suffered by the client, his wife, and their son, who witnessed the tragic event.
