Kevin E. Brown

Biography

Kevin handles all aspects of insurance coverage, municipal, land use, personal injury, and construction law, both at the trial and appellate levels. Kevin also represents injured employees in worker’s compensation proceedings. He lectures on municipal law and insurance coverage issues, and has briefed and argued many cases before the Vermont Supreme Court, including DeBartolo v. Underwriters at Lloyd’s of London, 181 Vt. 609 (2007), Burton et al. v. Town of Salisbury, 173 Vt. 177 (2001), Town of Rutland v. City of Rutland, 170 Vt. 87 (1999); and Carr v. Peerless Insurance Co., 168 Vt. 465 (1998), which established the test employed by Vermont courts to determine whether a statutory violation creates a private right of action.

Kevin joined Langrock Sperry & Wool in 1990 after clerking for the Hon. Frederic W. Allen, Chief Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court.

Kevin lives in Bristol with his wife, a practicing veterinarian, and their two children when they are home from pursuing graduate degrees. Kevin serves as Chairman of the Bristol Zoning Board of Adjustment and is Treasurer of the Addison County Bar Association.  Kevin served on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Addison County as long as term limits would allow. Kevin remains active with Habitat as legal counsel and as a member of its Advisory Council.
